Artist: Black Cobain
Track: Going Back to Cali
Directed By: BOA Films

This track is fire. I’m sure I don’t need to introduce the original sample of this song, shout out the Notorious BIG! In case you forgot, it starts with a little reminder, from the strip where Big was shot down. #COBIZZY stands on the corner and takes it from there. This black and white video, featuring throw back clips, is pieced together perfectly and really matches the original vibe of the song. Check it out and don’t forget to share!

DMV’s rap duo YSC is back at it with “Killa Swag.” This hardcore street track full of synths, deep basses, snares, and cash talk, is just a sample off their upcoming “Stunna Seasons” mixtape. New Video: YSC “Theraflu”

July 18, 2012 in Blog, Music, Videos

DMV rap duo YSC, made up of brothers Stunna B and Chase, released their version of Kanye West’s song “Theraflu.” Starting of the song with the first verse, Stunna B spits a staccato style flow over the dark G.O.O.D. music produced beat. His fast paced rhymes take a sudden break as the song bridges to the second verse, which Chase carries to the end similar to the way Lil Wayne would. Being brothers to X Factor contestant Marcus Canty, you can expect great influences and features to help jump start YSC’s budding career. Check out the video above and keep an eye out for new material coming soon!

Black Cobain: “We Are Young”

July 17, 2012 in Music, Reviews

As Black Cobain continues to drop free tracks for his fans after his recent “Cheers” mixtape release, we run into something we’re already quite familiar with. The band “Fun,” has gained a large amount of popularity due to their song “We Are Young.” Becoming one of the theme songs for this year, the original song creates an image of a young generation who parties hard and lives their life to the limit.

Cobain sees this song as an opportunity to express what he has been going through this past year as an up and coming artist. He starts out the song by shouting out his record label “B.O.A.” and raps about how their come up as a young group has led to many new experiences, witnessing haters and non believers along the way. With the end of his first verse we see that after everything Cobain has gone through, the outcome has been “more brown liquor in [his] kidneys.” He is implying that he doesn’t care about the obstacles he faces in life. He’s getting paid and chooses to spend his money for his enjoyment. Check out the track below and leave a comment. Don’t forget to share.
